Rights Angels was set up by Sally Shell in 2013 as an affordable means of accessing sound, pragmatic and effective legal and business affairs services for smaller production companies and individual talent.
Sally qualified as a barrister a long time ago and has over 20 years legal and business affairs experience from independent commissioning at the BBC to Head of Business Affairs for Wall To Wall and Head of Commercial and Legal Affairs at Darlow Smithson Productions where she helped with strategic growth prior to its sale to IMG in 2006.
Sally has been the architect of a number of ground breaking access deals culminating in high profile projects such as 127 Hours, The Diary of Anne Frank, Thriller in Manila and Stephen Hawking: Grand Design. She also has co-production financing experience across international factual programming and latterly drama and animation, such as Peaky Blinders and Mr Bean for Tiger Aspect.
Alex Graham: ex CEO of Wall To Wall Media and Chair of Sheffield DocFest says:
Sally Shell was Wall to Wall’s first head of business affairs. When I
hired her – almost 20 years ago – she had a transforming effect on the
company. She is a meticulous lawyer and a tenacious negotiator but she
manages to combine that with being someone who is genuinely nice to be
around. She also instinctively understands what I have always believed –
that a good deal is where both parties leave the negotiating table happy
with the result.
No surprise then that when I left Wall to Wall and needed someone I could
trust to handle my business and legal needs, Sally was the first person I
turned to.
